Zamalek Basketball Club to Compete at FIBA Intercontinental Cup

Zamalek basketball team has been chosen by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to participate in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2022 as Africa's first representative.

After reigning supreme at the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) earlier this year in Rwanda, the Zamalek basketball team has been chosen by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to participate in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2022.

Held in association with FIBA and North America’s National Basketball Association (NBA - yes, that one), the BAL was created to allow African basketball teams to compete on the world stage. As the league’s first champions, Zamalek will be the first team from Africa to represent the continent at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

The FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2022 is scheduled to begin next February.
