Zewail City of Science and Technology Produces Ventilators for Coronavirus Patients
6th of October’s Zewail City of Science and Technology has begun producing two different models of ventilators to support COVID-19 patients.
Zewail City of Science and Technology has developed two different models of ventilators to be used by COVID-19 patients. The ventilators have multiple usage cases. The first is for emergencies and during transport and triage. The second model is currently in its final development phase and will target mandatory mode in ICUs.
This initiative began as a response to the shortage of locally produced ventilators in Egypt, and echoes recent efforts across the nation to provide support for COVID-19 patients, such as the 25th of January Hospital donating EGP 5 million to purchase ventilators, the British University in Egypt committing to making 5,000 ventilators, and The Ministry of Health’s call on private hospitals to allocate specialized isolation wards for virus patients.
