Chivas Regal Adds a Party-Loving New Member to the Family with Chivas XV

Forget everything you thought you knew about Scotch whiskey - the Chivas XV is dialing things up several notches.

When James and John Chivas opened a luxury grocery store in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1801, the Scottish siblings were blissfully unaware that over two centuries later, their name would be a glimmering fixture at bars and liquor cabinets across the world. They certainly wouldn't have foreseen the newest addition, the Chivas XV, which arrives in a parade of possibilities as a high-energy whisky for the high-energy whisky-lover.

Operating from the Strathisla distillery in Speyside, Scotland since 1786, Chivas Regal is universally thought of as the leading Scotch whisky 12 years and above, but the XV is taking things in a very different direction.

Words will never quite do justice to a complex Scotch whisky, but here goes nothing. Aged for a minimum of 15 years and finished in Grande Champagne Cognac casks, the new blend is still very much routed in the classic Chivas house style, but the casks add a more refined, velvety and generally richer variation. Add a warm amber glow, bursting notes of rich sultanas and touches of cinnamon and you have one of the most unique Scotch whisky flavour profiles around.

What this all amounts to is one of Chivas’ most versatile blends yet; one that demands a lively, colourful occasion. Don’t get us wrong; that cliché of relaxingly sipping a whisky while sitting in a grand, throne-like leather chair next to a crackling fire-place is as much as any whisky lover would want. But the XV has arrived just in time for summer, feeding seamlessly into the kind of lively, spirited and just plain vivacious nights out or gatherings that are to come. And while purists will certainly enjoy a simple XV on the rocks, this new permanent edition to the Chivas pantheon works just as well for shots and cocktails, perfect for any high-energy occasion

Sitting cosily as a bridge between Chivas 12 and Chivas 18, the XV has even changed things up in terms of packaging, with a clear bottle that uses cheeky touches of gold, making it an ideal gift for any whisky lover.

What now? Well, forget everything you thought you knew about Scotch whisky. Chivas XV is offering you the chance to experience whisky in a whole new way.
