Thursday saw the arrest of five drug dealers during a police crackdown on a heroin factory found in Obour City, Qaliubiya.

According to Youm7, the factory was built within a farm bought by the five suspects, and was being used for producing, mixing, and compressing heroin.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced the arrest on Friday, as well as the names and possessions of the five drug dealers—some of whom were previously convicted with other criminal activities such as murder, according to Al Masry Al Youm.

The heroin factory in Obour City contained large quantities of drugs, ranging from heroin and hashish, as well as paracetamol (caffeine) which is used in mixing with the heroin, and over 100 anesthetic tablets. The total amount of value for the drugs amounted to EGP 16,930, according to Al Masry Al Youm, and the weight added to 27 kilos of heroin, and more than 3 kilos of hashish.

The five suspects were arrested, and are now being kept at the Obour Police Department in Qaliubiya Governorate, for possession, production and distribution of the narcotics.
