New Capital Airport Set to Open in the ‘Coming Weeks’

Following the launch of the Sphinx International Airport last January, Egypt's ministry of civil aviation announced the impending inauguration of the  Administrative Capital's new airport which will take place in the 'coming weeks', reports Sky News Arabia. 

The Administrative Capital's new airport is made up of 45 buildings, eight parking lots that can take up to 500 cars and 30 buses, and an air control tower that is 50 meters high and 60 meters wide, with a 3650 meter-long passage. Built in accordance with global standards, the airport is equipped with a main terminal that stretches over 5,000 square metres and can host around 300 people an hour.

Dubbed Capital National Airport, the structure is equipped with all the latest security equipment and will have charter flights which Cairo International Airport does not provide. The new airport will be located at the center of the city, which is being constructed in Eastern Cairo.
