Bäxters is The Bakery Bringing Emily to Cairo

Bäxters European kitchen provides ostentatious fusion pastries.

Most days we crave nothing but the femine urge to put on our noise-cancelling headphones, dissociate, roam the streets untethered, and pretend as though we’re in a movie montage dedicated to showcasing our ‘one true love’ encounter. However, there's nothing quite as capable as further instigating our main-character syndrome like taking ourselves out, and sipping on a freshly brewed latté and crisply baked croissants. Most days we crave nothing but the femine urge to put on our noise-cancelling headphones, dissociate, roam the streets untethered, and pretend as though we’re in a movie montage dedicated to showcasing our ‘one true love’ encounter. However, there's nothing quite as capable as further instigating our main-character syndrome like taking ourselves out, and sipping on a freshly brewed latté.

This is where Bäxters comes into play; a gorgeous café owned by four sisters whose affinity is European cuisine runs deeper than the jam filling their pastries. “The European kitchen part is because our mother (Riitta) is from Finland and we wanted to bring all of our favourite things to Cairo,” co-founder Sherine Wafaai tells @SceneEats. “Both our parents are great cooks and we inherited our love for cooking and baking from them.''

Their crescent shaped croissants effortlessly accompany their premium coffee blends. The brasserie also bakes a slew of hearty desserts, like their scrumptious blueberry ‘huffins’ that ooze marmalade as you munch away your sorrows with jelly goodness. Providing delicious ‘duffins’, (that is a doughnut and muffin fusion), Bäxters reigns supreme when it comes to one off creations and patisserie blends. The European Kitchen’s rustic interiors imbue the experience with a homegrown feel. Coupled with the family’s consistent in-store presence, the dining experience brims with a deep sense of intimacy.

So if you’re looking for an instagrammable brunch spot then O1’s Bäxters is surely the place to be.
