Elevate Your Nile-Side Brunches at Zamalek's Luuma

To those craving a monarchical escape, Luuma’s afternoon tea catapults consumers to an era laced with monogrammed silver spoons.

At the tail end of every food-induced coma lies the unwavering desire to soak up sun rays and drown ensuing heartburn in bottles of sparkling water. Since winter demands a flurry of brunch dates to keep the soul - and in turn heart - warm, Zamalek’s Luuma offers a plethora of soul-healing dishes to tend to those beastly winter cravings. Founded by John Habib, Beshoy Nakhnoukh, Ibram Saad and Michael Bishay, Luuma fuses feel-good moments, Nile-side views and international cuisine to deliver experiential dining experiences.

“We wanted to connect tourists with Egyptian culture, to acquaint them with our heritage through Oriental platters and feteer,” John Habib, Managing Partner of Luuma, tells SceneEats. “We travelled around the world and gathered inspiration for our dishes and interiors, hence why we landed on something quite international that still tethers itself to Egypt.”

As the sun begins to simmer beneath their bamboo interiors and feluccas harmoniously collide with the ebb and flow of the Nile, a golden plateful of feteer works to bolster the sensory experience at hand. To those craving a monarchical escape of sorts, Luuma’s afternoon tea catapults consumers to an era laced with monogrammed silver spoons. Staying true to Egypt’s rich food culture, Luuma’s range of oriental delicacies grounds the restaurant’s fleeting nature with societal favourites.
