This Alexandrian Cafe in Kafr Abdo is Straight Out of a Sketchbook
Futti Pizza & Speciality Coffee will have you eating inside a sketch, sipping inside a dream, and somehow ending up in Italy.

Some places draw you in, not just with the promise of good food or coffee, but with an atmosphere that feels personal, almost like it’s waiting just for you. Futti, tucked away in Kafr Abdo, Alexandria, is one of those places. At first glance, it looks like a café that forgot to colour itself in—walls, furniture, even vintage décor outlined in black, frozen mid-sketch.
But beyond the optical illusion, there’s something richer at play. The scent of woodfire lingers in the air. A siphon coffee brews slowly nearby. A pizza lands at the next table, its crust perfectly charred, cheese stretching just right—enough to make you second-guess your order.
Futti is the brainchild of Nada Fawzy, a 24-year-old pharmacist who decided a conventional career path wasn’t for her. Instead, she built a café that feels like an art installation—part European escape, part personal tribute to family. The name comes from her father, Fawzy (nicknamed Futti), and the space is as much about storytelling as it is about food. “I thought about opening a pharmacy,” Nada tells SceneEats, “but I wanted something different. Something no one had seen before.”
And different it is. Every chair, table, and rotary phone looks hand-drawn, but the food is anything but an illusion.
“There’s no electric oven here,” Nada says, “Only firewood, because I wanted everything to feel classical. Even the specialty coffee is created with handmade techniques.”
The menu is a love letter to European classics, untouched by fleeting trends. Pesto pasta is Nada’s favourite, while carbonara pizza—with its rich sauce and signature egg topping—is a best-seller. The coffee menu is just as meticulous, featuring siphon brews, cold brews, and V60 pour-overs, all crafted with the same patience as the food. Every pizza dough ferments for three days, unless a rush demands a same-day batch. The philosophy is simple: no shortcuts, just good food, made right.
Futti isn’t just a café—it’s an experience woven through four distinct spaces, each inspired by a different city: Paris, Rome, London, and Athens. The menu follows suit. The Italian corner brings rich tomato sauces, fresh burrata, and handcrafted pizzas straight from Naples’ playbook. French influences show up in airy pastries and butter-laden breakfasts. English breakfasts and well-brewed teas hold their own, while the Greek selection—still expanding—hints at bold Mediterranean flavours. Even Egyptian cuisine finds a place on the menu, blending seamlessly with its European counterparts.
Beyond the food, Futti is designed to be as social or as intimate as you want it to be. Tucked-away tables create a cosy atmosphere for date nights, while open spaces invite long conversations over coffee.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet solo escape, a lively dinner with friends, or a warm corner to sit and just be, Futti adapts to its guests—like a perfectly drawn moment, waiting to be coloured in.
