Video creator Amira Adeeb has made her fashion debut with the first collection from her self-titled streetwear merch line, just under a month ago in October, 2020. In little to no time at all, the colourful designs - inspired by the laidback streetwear style that still captures Adeeb’s signature ’free spirit' - have already sold out.
“I went for three main things: comfort, coziness, and colour," Adeeb tells #CairoScene. "I love wearing hoodies. If I could wear one everyday, I would. I choose comfort when I dress over anything and I love the oversized streetwear look, so that is where the designs came from.”
With the help of designer Nada Tanbouly, the dynamic duo were able to come up with designs that were both laidback and spunky. “I wanted to make designs for everyone, so that people who don’t even know me would say ‘That’s a cool hoodie!’ I didn’t want it to be ‘in your face, this is me’ merch,” Adeeb says.
The young content creator got into attire when she wanted to find a way to give back to society more often. Using her newly-launched merch line’s revenue, Adeeb will be donating 10 percent of all her proceeds to charity. “It all started because I wanted to do more and give back, but I didn’t have the financial means to do that as freely as I liked," Adeeb recalls. "A riend of mine asked me why I don’t have merch and it was like an ‘aha’ moment for me, and I realized I can do both." For each collection, a new cause will be chosen. This time around, she's hoping to help students pay off their tuition fees and avoid going into debt.
The young creative is now working on her second collection, and will be restocking the current one very soon. For orders, hit their DMs.
