Cielo by Sama Embraces All Things Y2K

From whimsical marbled prints to wrapped head bandanas drawing on Lil Kim’s urban Y2K red carpet looks, Cielo by Sama’s designs encapsulate a moment in fashion history that's overdue for a comeback.

Cielo by Sama is the local label serving up a girly, sassy, mischievous take on early 2000s pop-star glam. From whimsical marbled prints to wrapped head bandanas drawing on Lil Kim’s urban Y2K red carpet looks, Cielo by Sama’s designs encapsulate a moment in fashion history that is coming back for a killing. With her fluffy bucket hats and crossed-waist jeans, the Cielo girl is an approachable ‘it girl’, drawing on everything we know and love about ‘Clueless’ protagonist Clair.

“Our main aim is to provide trendy, high quality and affordable clothing for every girl out there,” sisters and founders Sama and Salema Ayman tell #CairoScene.

Their pieces, designed by older sister Sama, include bold colour choices, asymmetrical cutouts, and strappy waistlines. Although technically casual wear, their ensembles are not for the faint of heart— they’re for fashion mongers.
