Inspired by the ice cream swirls and cotton candy fluffs, Saya Swimwear's SS16 collection has just awakened our sugar-addicted alter ego.
Sun-kissed skin, daisy dukes, bikinis on top. No, it’s not a scene from Katy Perry’s California Gurls but it come close. Saya Swimwear’s Spring/Summer collection 2016, titled Cotton Candy, is so sexy it'll melt every popsicle in the vicinity. “It was inspired by the ice cream swirls and cotton candy fluffs,” says designer Sara Mofty, who chose soft and playful materials, signalling a clear split from her last collection.
Colourful and majestic, the fabrics are a crystallisation of every girl’s childhood dream. “I wanted the collection to embody the freeing of your inner child,” she tells CairoScene. Even each colour name sound like the hues daydreams are made of: dusty pink, mint green, sandy white, pony purple, lollipop yellow, bubblegum blue and cheeky peach. Shot in Villa Al’ Banna by photographer Natasha Yonan, the swimwear sets out to transport us “to la la land,” as Mofty says, with playful pastel suits and candy coloured beach caftans. Check out some of the sugary shots below.
