Elbarbari’s fall/winter line is an ode to simplicity and practicality, the stuff of capsule wardrobe fantasia.
In a world overwhelmed with fast fashion, local fashion house Alia Elbarbari takes its inspiration from classical art and architecture, flora and fauna, and the incomparable woman of today. The founder’s family business boasts a long legacy in the textiles and fashion industry since the 1940s, extending the dedicated craftsmanship of earlier eras to the present day. The brand's aesthetic is defined by clean lines paired with luxury plain fabrics and materials.
For Elbarbari, exclusivity is the name of the game. The 27-year-old has stuck to a business model that only produces three to four pieces of each design, with sizes going up to XXXL.
“Everything I have in my closet is timeless, I don’t follow trends,” El Barbari tells SceneStyled. “I was aiming to create a line that embodies that philosophy. To create pieces that you can pass on to your daughter, like my mother and grandmother did with me. But when you do this, quality is of the utmost importance because you need pieces to last for years.”
Elbarbari’s fall/winter line is an ode to simplicity and practicality, the stuff of capsule wardrobe fantasia. For the basic pieces in her collections, Elbarbari uses a special silk and Lycra blend for her fabrics that are incredibly comfortable and don a luxe finish. The upcoming SS22 collection will feature timeless designs that are crisp and comfortable along with a smaller capsule collection for special occasions and evening wear.
The self-taught designer launched her namesake brand just over a year ago, and has since been a one-woman-show. From the designs to the marketing and campaign images, she’s described her brand as a true passion project. To shop Alia Elbarbari, visit Weaving Grace or aliaelbarbari.com
