If you needed an excuse to leave the overcrowded, noisy mayhem that is Cairo, this is it. Pack up your bags and head down to the heavenly utopia of El Gouna for the 2nd annual El Gouna Beach Polo KINGS SILVER CUP. The second edition of the only polo tournament in Egypt is set to take place in a custom-built arena next to La Maison Bleue from the 25th to the 28th of April 2018.

Six teams consisting of both local and international players will be represented by major sponsors: Mercedes Benz, Orange, Banque de Caire, Magma, Mangroovy, and Kings Polo.

If you are not really a beach polo fan, don’t let that be the reason you miss out. The serene set-up includes musical entertainment, as well as local food trucks, marina parades, and even pony rides for whoever is feeling adventurous. And of course, last but not least, there will be lots and lots of drinks.

What is beach polo?  Think of it as ice hockey on horseback (minus the ice, of course). The arena is specially designed with spectators in mind, placing them close to the action in order to fully appreciate the horsemanship, speed, and gladiatorial nature of Polo. Just picture it: the thrill and excitement of horses dashing on the sand, the majestic Red Sea in the background, and a glass of champagne in hand.

The opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, the 25th of April, followed by the first matches of the tournament, and ending with a BBQ at Aurora, the most popular nightclub in El Gouna. On the second day, game play will be followed by a gala dinner at luxurious hideaway, La Maison Bleue. This is a black tie event, so guys, don’t forget your dress suits!

On Friday, a parade in the beautiful yacht-filled marina will take place prior to the day’s matches. To close, the final games will take place on Saturday, followed by the closing ceremony and awards presentation.

Dress code is smart casual – women, this is your chance to wear that beautiful beach dress you’ve been dying to show off, and don’t forget the grand beach hats! If you’re not really a dress person, just put on your most comfortable casual beach outfit. Men are expected to dress casually as well; a polo or light summer chemise will do. It's worth noting that the dress code will be "royal" on the day of the semi-final (Friday April 27th) and white on the final day.
