Converting From Playboy to Islam

Here is something you don't hear about every day (or ever for that matter). It has finally happened. A former Playboy bunny has decided to give up her play-bunny ways for Islam.

Calling the conversion a 'rebirth', Felixia Yeap, a 28 year old Malaysian model, announced her conversion to her 835,000 followers on Facebook this past Thursday. Yeap was introduced to her new faith at the Taman Tun Dr. Ismail Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, as a result of her search for meaning and purpose. 

"I went to Catholic Church every Sunday evening for two years. I've tried to understand Christianity," she told her fans on Facebook, adding; "I've tried to find new meaning in worshipping Kuan Yin and others. I also tried to adopt Buddhist practices. But my heart never felt close to God. My heart never felt touched. Today is an historic date for me. It's like a rebirth. Incidentally, this year, my birthday falls on the 5th of Ramadan, the Prophet Muhammad's favourite day."

Bad news for Playboy, great news for Islam, best news for the CairoScene team as we never imagined ever being able to construct a sentence that includes both Playboy and Islam. No word yet on what her new profession will be, but she does rock a hijab, so perhaps a career as a hijab model is in the works, although perhaps that too would be haram.
