Egyptian adults are breaking records and not in a good way. Egypt has officially been named one of the fattest nations in the world in a study by the University of Washington in Seattle, according to the New England Journal for Medicine.

The study covered the 100 most populous countries in the world, showing that Egypt’s overall obesity rates have reached a staggering 26.8 percent, landing us in second place, right after Saudi Arabia (27.5 percent), but still higher than the US (26.5 percent). We’re so okay with not being number one this time though.

We also ranked number one in the study with a 35.3 percent giving us the highest obesity rates among adults, but we shouldn’t feel too terrible about that fact. We’re not alone because all around the world, more and more people are becoming overweight and obese. According to Newsweek, about 2.2 billion people worldwide, around 30 % of the humans inhabiting this world, are either overweight or obese.
