Egyptian Railways to Develop New Electronic Ticket System

The Egyptian Railway Authority is developing a new electronic system for booking train tickets, having signed a contract with a smart solutions company to update the railway reservation system and digitize its services.

The new system will introduce several new features to the Egyptian railway, including the creation of electronic gates at train stations to reserve tickets. The digital system is hoped to reduce waste and reduce the likelihood of ticket evasion.

Through the new electronic system, Meeza card users will also be able to book tickets online. No word yet on when the new system will be ready, but the preliminary plans are already underway.
