Egyptian referee Mahmoud Ashour, one of the top football referees in the country, has been selected by FIFA as part of their 20-man list of referees to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Since his refereeing debut during the Egyptian Premier League in 2008, Ashour has officiated over 150 domestic games at the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Premier League, as well as the continental-level AFCON qualifiers matches.
The Olympics tournament is set to begin on July 21st, with the Egyptian national team opening against Spain on July 22nd.
