Find Tranquility Through Rock Climbing & Equine Therapy in Dahab

Located in the peaceful desert landscapes of South Sinai, Abdussalam and Insights Seekers offer a journey to the self by the waters of Dahab with the Wilderness Therapy Centre.

In contrast to Sinai’s usual tourist spots, adventurer Belal Abdussalam set out to create a retreat where people would go to heal themselves, body and soul. Located in the peaceful desert landscapes of South Sinai, Abdussalam and Insights Seekers offer a journey to the self by the waters of Dahab with the Wilderness Therapy Centre.

After the loss of his child, Abdussalam found himself hiking in Sinai for six months. The venture became a transformative healing experience and he felt inclined to share it with as many people as he could. Before long, he stumbled across a plot of land in Nuweiba that would become the home of his passion project. Through Wilderness Therapy Centre, Abdussalam wanted to offer people an opportunity for self-healing and self-discovery.

“There are other forms of therapy other than sitting in an office and talking to someone. Interacting with nature on that level is healing and gives a sense of serenity,” Abdussalam tells #CairoScene. “Rock climbing and hiking are a great gateway to self discovery, equine therapy is an amazing way to confront your emotions as the horses act as a mirror to one’s emotions… If there is one thing I’d like our visitors to take away, it's hope.”

The community takes in volunteers from all corners of the world including Australia, Canada, and the USA. Volunteers contribute to the community with whatever they can, be it a simple helping hand, building, social media, or photography. Visitors, meanwhile, are welcome to enjoy the centre’s rock climbing, hiking, equine therapy, and free diving facilities.
