Gymnastics World Cup Flips Into Action in Egypt

The Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup is flipping and kicking its way to Cairo starting today, March 17th, until March 20th. It's the third of four events in the 2022 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup series, where gymnasts from all over the world have come to compete for a chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 or Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. In fact, this event will see athletes from 33 nations worldwide - more than any other FIG World Cup event this year.

A slew of Egyptian talents are looking to make their marks, including Zeina Sharaf and Omar Mohamed, who represented Egypt at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They'll be joined by fellow gymnastics superstars like Nancy Taman, who made an impressive showing at the 2021 World Championships, Jana Mahmoud, who made it to the finals of one of the events at the Doha World Cup last year, and Ali Zahran, who won gold at last year's FIG World Challenge Cup in Cairo.

Previous World Cup winners from around the globe have also come to Cairo, including Ukraine's Daniela Batona, Armenia's Artur Davtyan, and Uzbekistan's Oksana Chusovitinia.
