In a first for the country, the Egyptian Paralympic Committee and the Samir & Aly Foundation are launching the ‘Samir and Ali Academy for Amputee Football’ at the Olympic Center in Maadi.

Egypt’s national amputee football team set off for their first African regional tournament in Tanzania last month, coming in at seventh place after defeating Cameroon 2-0. Although world champ Angola defeated the team in the quarter-finals, the amputee football team returned to Egypt with a fervor for more, and more they shall receive.

The Samir & Aly Foundation supported the amputee football team all the way to the African Championship and now, it’s branching out to Alexandria and Aswan to nurture the talents of the country’s aspiring athletes and hidden talents like Seif Salama, the national team goalkeeper, who was awarded as best goalkeeper during the African Championship.
