One Smart Card for Railways & Subways
Similar to the UK’s Oyster card or Canada’s Presto card, Egypt is launching a unified smart card that will enable users of public transport to hop on their rides more conveniently.

Forget metro stubs and bus tickets piling up at the bottom of your bag. In a similar spirit to the UK’s Oyster card or Canada’s Presto card, Egypt is launching a unified smart card that will enable users of public transport to hop on their rides more conveniently.
The new card system was announced during the fourth edition of the Smart Transport Exhibition (TransMEA 2021) and will contribute to the modernization of the transport, railway, and subway system.
Currently, Egypt has invested heavily into its high-speed electric train, which is set to be the sixth longest network in the world, extending over 1,800 kilometres with links to the north and east coast.
