So Spa, So Perfect for Valentine's Day

When we were gifted a cute little package from Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah’s So Spa we couldn’t wait to throw on one of their world renowned robes, slip into their slippers and forget about everything else in our lives. We headed over this week to check out the world renowned retreat to get ourselves all primped and pampered just in time for Valentine’s Day.

As we arrived, we were quickly greeted by the expert team and seated in a sea of calm. As they prepared our treatment rooms, we were presented with the So Spa menu to choose our indulgent experience, while a cool glass of hibiscus tea was set in front of  us – a gateway drink to the fresh and rejuvenated new people we’d become when we’d completed our spa day.

Now you might not believe us when we say that our job is pretty tough and demanding, but after a day of typing furiously at our computers, followed by a night of obligatory events, we’re tenser than Ukrainian – Russian relations. So when it came to choosing a massage, our eye gravitated towards their classic In-Deep Relaxing Massage, designed to deeply relax muscle tissue, improve circulation and relieve tension. A few minutes later and we’re in our fluffy robes, in a toasty warm room that smells like heaven on earth, led by our expert masseuse.

So we can’t tell you what happened in those life-changing 60 minutes, as our minds and bodies we truly transported, as our masseuse carefully yet purposefully kneaded out all those knots in our backs and shoulders with a delicate touch. What we can tell you is that we were so relaxed that if anyone had seen us at that point they would have mistaken us for comatose. We emerged feeling shiny and new and in touch with our senses. But it got even better.

We flipped over on our massage beds and now it was time for a facial. Usually, our skin care routines consist of occasionally washing our faces and using moisturiser when we get sun burned. However, given the opportunity to seriously treat ourselves, we opted for the Lifting and Plumping Fountain of Youth Facial. The anti-wrinkle facial is derived from the ancestral Japanese Ko Bi Do ritual which is associated with an anti-ageing active complex. Our beauty therapist spent 30 minutes applying, removing and re-applying a variety of potions and lotions, delicately working them into our skin, and leaving our faces radiant, refreshed and without those horrible bags under our eyes – perfect for the morning after the night before.

While spa treatments aren’t something you can splurge on every day, we’ll definitely be back at So Spa whenever we can.
