This Aswan Tour Lets You Paddle Across the Nile on a Duck

Ready to quack your way across the Nile? Because Aswan’s Duck Watersports is armed and ready with a fleet of…you guessed it, ducks. Well, not quite literal ducks (as our favourite waterfowl will be glad to hear).

These tours offer a unique twist on the traditional paddling experience, with their paddle boat-bicycle-bathtub-duck-esque hybrid that’ll have you paddling your way across the longest river in the world, taking in some of the oldest sights of the world.

“What we wanted to do is just add a twist on the traditional Nile experience in Aswan. You always see people touring on boats, and while that’s a beautiful experience in and of itself it still somehow keeps you at arm’s length from truly taking in the scenery,” Duck Watersports founder Ahmed Ragab tells CairoScene. “When you’re on one of our ‘ducks’ paddling at your own pace and just soaking up the vista, it just feels personal, and that’s what we wanted to achieve.”

With duck-tastic tours throughout Aswan at Qubbet el-Hawa, Aga Khan, and Heissa Island next to the Philae temple, what Duck Watersports seeks to provide is more than just your regular-shmegular tourist activity, but rather a moment of bliss alone atop the Nile, and a chance to give yourself into the beauty within the chaos of life, amidst one of the world’s oldest and most treasured cities.

These bath ducks grow up so fast.
