ALBUM SPOTLIGHT: HUSAYN - ‘SWITCH’
Husayn talks to SceneNoise about his success with drill and Maadi Town Mafia, as well as his financially-oriented approach to the music industry.
After finding mainstream success with hits such as 'Stop (Magnolia)' Ft. FL EX, Egyptian rapper Husayn, along with his collaborators under the Maadi Town Mafia record label have become hip-hop’s latest viral phenomenon.
Meanwhile, Husayn has made his mark on the regional scene by showcasing his lyricism and writing talent while experimenting with drill sonics. However, his latest album ‘Switch’ takes Husayn’s musical focus away from drill and into a variety of sonic styles, touching on pop, EDM, old-school hip-hop, and trap.
In this Album Spotlight, Husayn walks us through the diverse musical styles found on the release and explains the concept behind his 12-track album. He also states that the term ‘Switch’ refers to his multiple personas, which he cycles through to better adapt to the differing identities he encounters daily, brought about by his diverse social upbringing.
