Alsarah & The Nubatones Host a Concert for Sudan with Nadine El Roubie
The concert will raise funds to help those affected by the war in Sudan.
Alsarah & The Nubatones will host a tribute concert to Sudan with support from Nadine El Roubi, May 4th.
The show led by the Sudanese, Brooklyn-based artist Alsarah, and her East-African, Retro-pop band the Nubatones, who are well known for championing the Sudanese heritage and culture through their powerful music. Their latest track ‘Men Ana’, which they wrote in response to the Sudanese revolution, pays respect to the Sudanese resistance movement and its effect on youth, art, and culture.
Directed by Mai Elgizouli and shot in Alsarah’s hometown in Sudan, ‘Men Ana’ captures the strife and confusion that came with the socio-political happenings that moved the band.
Songstress Nadine El Roubi is set to be a special guest in this concert. The soulful R&B artist created a huge fanbase with her iconic freestyle tunes, offering both straight-up hard-hitting bars, and heartfelt melodies that hit close to home. She has recently released a tear jerking freestyle to draw the world’s eyes to Sudan, encouraging people to donate to the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA). The charity provides emergency relief to those suffering from the war in Sudan.
In this concert, Alsarah & The Nubatones along with Nadine El Roubie will be raising funds to support Sudan. Moreover, Alsarah & the Nubatones will pay tribute to their homeland by playing multiple songs from their album ‘Manara’. The album was written amidst the refugee crisis, heavily influenced by the racial discrimination Alsarah faced while touring in Europe.
The tribute concert will be at Princeton University’s Frist Theatre in New Jersey, and it will be sponsored by the Department of Near Eastern Studies.
