Egyptian Artist Moody Jones Drops AI-Generated Video for 'Nightshifts'

Following the success of his track, ‘Nightshifts,’ which recently surpassed Drake’s ‘Jimmy Cooks’ by taking over the number one spot on SoundCloud’s dance charts, Egyptian DJ & producer Moody Jones is back with more innovations. Made in collaboration with Blu Ernest, a Brighton-based artist and singer, Moody Jones looks to AI-generated visuals to bring to life his vivid music video for the track.

The video, directed and animated by Justin Hackney and produced/ animated by Greg Pidcock brings us an otherworldly experience that makes use of an innovative cyber-punk art style. In this way, the team behind the video showcases what is possible when AI-generated art is augmented by human intervention.

The animators took to realdreams.io to generate the visuals. The AI system was trained to use various images of Jones, allowing the team to then “put him anywhere, doing anything” resulting in a stimulating mood piece that adds mystery and intrigue to the track.

The track itself takes a subtle approach with the instrumental, placing a heavy emphasis on atmosphere and groove, making use of electronic elements such as the techno-inspired beat, pitch-shifted vocals, tasteful resonant synthesisers, and choppy transitions. Blu Ernest then comes in with his catchy melodic ideas and impressive vocal delivery, ensuring that the track will be stuck in your head for the foreseeable future.
