Rap Of The Week | Aug 31 - Sep 6
This week’s edition of our rap playlist features new releases from Palestinian rapper R3D, Syria’s Bu Kolthoum, a freestyle from Sudanese rap icon Soulja and more.
On this edition of our Rap of The Week playlist, the SceneNoise team selected the best and freshest hip-hop releases from across the MENA region, featuring new music from R3D, Mahdy Madness and Soulja.
First off, we have ‘Umro2’ by Palestinian rapper R3D, featuring fellow BLTNM mates Shabjdeed and Al Nather. The track's ominous production peppered with nostalgic samples, courtesy of Al Nather, provides a backdrop against Shabjdeed’s introspective verses, reflecting on the ongoing genocide in Gaza and his internal struggles. R3D then contrasts this energy with his rapid-fire flows, shifting the tone to a more critical and commentary-driven delivery.
Next up, we have Egyptian rapper Mahdy Madness’ ‘Vocal’. The track sees Mahdy delivering assertive flows over a synth-driven trap beat, reflecting on his own ambitions and confidence in his talent.
Then we have Sudan’s suave rap superstar, who is returning with a freestyle track, ‘Messi’, which bends and plays around with the Sudanese dialect to deliver aggressive bars cementing his personal growth and enduring strength in the region’s rap and freestyle game.
The playlist also features Syria’s own Bu Kolthoum’s latest release ‘Akhdar’, ‘Asliyah’ by Saudi rapper Asayel, ‘Spicy’ by Egyptian rapper Mared, featuring American MC Big Moe, and more.
