Rap of the Week | June 21 - 27
This edition features new music by Marwan Pablo, 7liwa and Nadine El Roubi.
The SceneNoise rap release radar is back after a one-week hiatus with the freshest hip-hop tracks from the MENA region, presenting a selection of tracks that stood out among the many releases we’ve seen this week. This edition features new music by Marwan Pablo, 7liwa and Nadine El Roubi.
On the forefront of this list is Marwan Pablo returning with his first post-debut album release on ‘Al Arba3’, taking a different sonic direction and experimenting with lo-fi aesthetics and textured, down-tempo arrangements produced by Lecha. The track finds Pablo stuck in a contemplative state, which was heavily featured on his recent album, introspecting on his status within the rap game and delivering subtle boasts in his rhymes.
Morocco’s own 7liwa has released his fourth full-length album, 'Champion'. Among the many standout tracks on the record, we select the chilling cut, 'Maybach', which features 7liwa's distinct flows over minimal instrumentation that mixes Afrobeats and trap aesthetics, reinforcing his melodic delivery.
Also on the playlist is a track from the latest mixtape by Sudanese artist and femcee Nadine El Roubi. This 13-track album is full of charismatic delivery and clever wordplay. On the selected track here, 'Too Fly', Nadine flexes in style with a singing chorus that complements the multiple one-liners and smoky bars delivered on the verses.
