Shaabi Experimentalist Abo Sahar Drops New Track ‘Mowled Abo Karkaas'
Upper Egypt's master of 'Trobby' music is at his experimental best with a track that bares all the hallmarks of his wild and colourful shaabi fusion.

Having spent much of the quarantine entertaining fans from Egypt and beyond on live streams, Abo Sahar’s has been living his best post-pandemic life, getting back on the gig circuit in Cairo and even spending a little time in Switzerland at the end of last year.
He seems to have come back with a new vein of inspiration, as the Upper Egyptian master of ‘Trobby Music’, has dropped his first release in some time. Rooted in the shaabi, street-wedding music that Abo Sahar first found his footing in, ‘Mowled Abo Karkaas' boasts that typical, almost boom-bap pattern, but with Eastern drums. Alongside mizmar and shaabi keys, it all comes together for a signature Abo Sahar crescendo that could have only been conceived in the Minya native’s mind.
