Sudan’s Bas Joins Rising Artist Malik Moses on ‘Show Me Something’

Baltimore’s Malik Moses broke through the industry in the way every artist with untapped potential dreams of being discovered.

After entering a Twitch competition run by Grammy-award winning mix engineer Derek ‘MixedByAli’ Ali, the young artist managed to grab the attention of a man whose engine-ears have studied the likes of Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Summer Walker, and ScHoolboy Q.

No easy feat – and yet, fast-forward to 2022 – where Malik Moses is now signed to the engineer’s latest business venture and label, NoName Recordings.

‘Show Me Something’, Malik’s first single of the year, was accompanied by Dreamville’s Bas. This Sudanese and New York-repping artist forever evolves in style. Having worked with the likes of FKJ and The Hics, Bas’ feature on the soulful track is no surprise.

The pair float effortlessly on a lo-fi hip-hop beat by Groove and naz., differing in their approach – but this is what makes the track what it is. Where Malik’s flow and vocal tone are a trickling stream – Bas’ bassy timbre and bars are the rocks underneath.

What makes the song a 360-victory however is the truth behind the noise. ‘Show Me Something’ is the story of what it means to hold on to what may already be lost. In the track, Malik and Bas know that every relationship has sacrifice, hope, and regret. Neither artist holds back lyrically, baring their every vulnerability with poetic skill.
