Design Talks with Award Winning Designer Shosha Kamal

In the latest edition of SceneHome’s Design Talks, Kamal recalls the events that led to her work being listed as one of the most unique and valuable items in the White House.

During her visit to Egypt in 2018, former first lady Melania Trump received a gift from the Egyptian government: a gorgeous chair designed by Shosha Kamal Design House. Inspired by Ancient Egypt, Shosha Kamal reimagines time-tested iconography using a modern brush. In this case, she fashioned her chair after the sacred scarab beetle, an Ancient Egyptian symbol of rebirth and transformation, using a graceful colour palette of gold and white.
