Single Review: Joey Erfan's 'Subtle'

It's been less than a week since we reviwed a track by Joey, but Subtle is not one that we would let slip through our nets that easily.

Single Review: Joey Erfan's 'Subtle'

Joey's last single In The Other Room was a fantastic piece of house music, supported on social media by some of Egypt's best talent. In less than a week since we last reviewed his latest, he delivers yet another astounding piece of an indistinguishable sub genre. It's house with an experimental vibe. A very Subtle vocal sample - from a JFK speech – adds to the ambiguity of the track. The track starts with a mellow deep house vibe; Joey holds back at first, playing the percussion line before unleashing the kick. After he builds up some momentum, pads are layered in, the bass line is released, and the track moves forward. Alternating between a couple of breaks, building more momentum, the artist starts to sneak in the vocal sample – JFK's voice – which carries the track into different territory. Ethereal.
