Backpacking Egypt: Taking Foreign Exchange Students Around the Country in 14 Days

The brain child of Dune Raiders and AISEC GUC, Backpacking Egypt aims to promote and support tourism by travelling around the country and showcasing its exceptional beauty.

Thought up by Dune Raiders and AISEC GUC, Backpacking Egypt is a project that aims to support and promote local tourism. It kicked off July 2015 when they hosted 35 international students, from 24 different countries, with the intent to show the world, through these students who were posting pictures of the trip on their social media, that Egypt is safe, and it's safe to travel around. The program took the students from Cairo to South Sinai, the Red Sea, Luxor, Aswan, the Western Desert, Fayoum, and back to Cairo, all in 14 days! All the students had either a background in photography or videography, and social media influence, and as such, were able to give exposure to the trip and by extension, to Egypt. A similar trip was organised in January of this year, also in partnership with AISEC.Dune Raiders, the company behind Backpacking Egypt, has been organising sand boarding and safari trips since 2007. The trips soon diversified to include, diving, snorkelling, rock climbing, and other adventure trips. Dune Raiders are also responsible for Rou7 Festival, an exciting new project whose second edition is currently in the making.
