CNN Just Featured Egypt on Their List of 20 Destinations Not to Miss
CNN rounded up 20 destinations the experts say not to miss and Geoffrey Kent of travel agency, Abercrombie & Kent praises Egypt's sites without the usual crowds.
Egypt makes it on CNN’s list of 20 not-to-miss destinations, as chosen by experts. The world is finally deciding that Egypt is OK to visit again after the chaos that ensued in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. A tourism drought that has left Egypt economically constrained is finally starting to lift, as more and more countries are deciding Egypt is safe again, with Russia resuming its flights to Egypt in the near future, according to statement by Russian president, Vladimir Putin last December. A terrorist attack on a Russian flight in 2015 has left Russian tourists less than willing to make it over here, but things are starting to looking up for tourism in Egypt.
But the noticeable lack of the usual tourist crowd might be exactly why CNN featured them - a ranking which comes hot off the heels of Bloomberg featuring Egypt as one of the hottest travel destinations of 2017 in a list issued early this January - as many experts are happy about getting to see the sites without the intense crowds.
Geoffrey Kent, founder of international luxury travel company, Abercrombie & Kent says via CNN that,"I'd highly recommend going to Egypt now." He came to the country in late 2015 to visit all the ancient sites, and adds that, "It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see these sites with few crowds. For instance, at Abu Simbel, I was in Ramses temple and had it all to myself for a few minutes.”
