Aswan's Philae Island to Get Major Renovation, Dedicated Museum and Nubian-Inspired Hotel

Already an enthralling site with extensive historical value, Aswan’s governor Ahmed Ibrahim has announced a project to revamp Philae Island, turning it into an open tourist attraction. Ibrahim has revealed the plan will be mindful of the island’s ecosystem, and emphasising that renovations would have no negative impact on the environment.

The project would make use of the temples’ mountainous terrains, as well as establish a Nubian-inspired hotel situated on the island, according to Ibrahim, which would draw from the region’s rich culture of round structures and carvings with vivid and lively colours.

Ibrahim added that the entire area would undergo refurbishments, and there would be increased taffic control that would regulate driving. Moreover, a museum is in plans that would display Philae Temple’s history,  and several amenities including bazaars, restaurants and cafés would open on the island, with designated bus parking lots to accommodate tours of the temple.
