According to Aswat Masriya and a study by CAPMAS, there has been an 83 percent increase in divorce rates in Egypt since 1996, and they report "the divorce rate stood at 1.2 per 1,000 marriages in the period between 1996-1999, compared to a rate of 2.2 per 1,000 marriages in 2015."

Divorce rates in Egypt have been fluctuating over the years, and have been linked to age as well. For example, from 1996-2005, men who were 20-34 years old had the highest male divorce rate at 47.9 percent. On the other hand, from 2006-2015, women who were 20-34 years old had the highest female divorce rate at 60.7 percent.

As of last year, CAPMAS reports that the average age of divorce from 2006-2015 has been 38 years old for men and 32 years old for women.
