Egypt’s Ramy Youssef Calls for Gaza Ceasefire at Golden Globes
Egyptian comedian Ramy Youssef urged a Gaza ceasefire during an interview at the Golden Globes.
Egyptian comedian and director Ramy Youssef, renowned for the hit mini-series 'Ramy' (2019), made a plea for a Gaza ceasefire at the recent Golden Globes. During an interview with Deadline, where he was asked about the viral Calvin Klein advertisement, Youssef humorously remarked, “We're all thinking two things: ceasefire now and Jeremy, please don't do another Calvin Klein ad.”
Youssef's comment satirizes the focus on the advertisement rather than the ongoing massacres in Gaza, Palestine. At the same event, the film 'Poor Things', featuring Emma Stone and Ramy Youssef, received the Best Movie Musical or Comedy Award and the Female Actor In A Movie Musical or Comedy Award. In 2020, Youssef won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for 'Ramy', a series he wrote, directed, and starred in.
