Expat Woman Arrested for Walking Naked Along Bahraini Highway

 Bahraini authorities arrested an expat woman who was naked on a highway last Saturday. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced their arrest via twitter:

(شرطة العاصمة): القبض على وافدة أجنبية(32 عاما) أثناء سيرها عارية بأحد شوارع منطقة توبلي وجاري اتخاذ الاجراءات القانونية اللازمة حيال الواقعة.

The post reads: “A 32-year-old expat woman was arrested by police as she walked naked in the streets of Tobeli area. We are currently working on taking the appropriate legal measure in the incident.”

Bahraini police were able to find and apprehend the woman after footage was leaked of the incident. The footage outraged the typically-conservative general public, prompting authorities to take action. The police made their arrest only hours after the footage went viral.
