National Program for Animal Welfare Launched at Archaeological Sites

A new national program for the care and protection of horses, camels, and pets at Egypt’s archaeological sites has been launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, focusing on animal welfare and veterinary support.

The initiative’s services will be offered for free at all archaeological sites nationwide, and includes regular veterinary caravans and mobile clinics to provide vaccinations and treatment for animals.

The program aligns with the ‘Bidaya’ presidential initiative, which has deployed 850 caravans to serve 1.34 million livestock across Egypt. Training for animal owners on humane handling practices will also be provided, with regular meetings to address their concerns and ensure compliance with welfare standards.
