The Smart Mobile Film Festival is back, curated by D-CAF, and accepting applications now. Find out how your film can be seen by thousands of people every day...
Move over Scorsese, The Smart Mobile Film Festival is coming to Egypt offering budding filmmakers to chance to make it on the big screen.
The initiative, held from March 20 - April 11 as part of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival, will allow would-be directors to take to the streets and film the next blockbuster - right here in Cairo. The only catch is that the movie must be filmed using a mobile phone and less than three minutes.
And insiders claim the competition is already hotting up.
The best movies shot on the streets and at a selection of movie workshops will then be screened at D-CAF in March. So if you've ever fancied yourself as a budding Stanley Kubrick or Quentin Tarantino, then now is your chance.
The topic can cover just about anything, the only condition is you have a passion for film. Rumour has it, the creative crew at D-CAF will be setting up interactive booths, dotted around downtown Cairo during the festival, where the finalists' films will be available to watch by anybody walking by, so thousands of pedestrians could potentially see your film. The closing date is March 15 - so get your skates on and email smartfilmfest@d-caf.org with the subject title "Application Request."
