Samsung Proves That Size Matters
Our social media feeds are flooded with people across Egypt accepting Samsung's challenge to snap the biggest selfie ever.

Gone are the days when the maxim ‘less is more’ made a difference in our lives. Now, the bigger the better. 4x4’s outsell sports cars, oversized sweaters get the fashionista seal of approval over tight t-shirts and no longer do we look for the smallest flip phone, but the biggest screen. Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones have certainly proved that bigger is better, and with their unique wide-selfie options on the latest models – from the multifunctional Note 4 to the vibrant and affordable A5 – they’re challenging everyone to go big or go home.
Samsung headed out on the streets to see who could manage to get the most people in one selfie. Soon, the video had gone viral and the challenge has been accepted by Egyptians everywhere as the hashtag #أكبر_سيلفي_في_مصر (The Biggest Selfie in Egypt) explodes on our social media feeds.
Having revolutionised the selfie, Samsung has been inundated by university students and organisations showing them what they’ve got, taking it upon themselves to mobilise their colleagues with a flood of Facebook events. Tomorrow, the Higher Institute of Engineer and Technology in El Areesh take on the challenge, Future Academy give it a go on Wednesday, while the faculty of commerce at Ain Shams try their hand on Thursday.
