Despite high temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius in parts of Egypt, exams will be able to go ahead as planned.

Thanaweya Amma Exams to Begin For 745,000 Students Amid Heatwave

The national high school exams, otherwise known as Thanaweya Amma exams, will begin on June 22nd and last until July 20th. Over 745,860 highschool students will be taking their tests across 1,981 examination halls in Egypt. A further 81 students will take their exams from inside prison, with 38 more taking them from the Children’s Cancer Hospital.

The timing of the exams coincides with a severe heatwave sweeping across the country. Between Tuesday and Friday, the temperature is expected to creep up to 41 degrees Celsius across Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, South Sinai and northern Upper Egypt. The North Coast is expected to see highs of 35 degrees Celsius, while southern Upper Egypt might reach 45 degrees Celsius.
