Cairo Marriott Hotel Receives Green Certification for Sustainability

Cairo Marriott Hotel has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining official certification as a green hotel. The hotel has been recognised with three Green Stars after meeting the rigorous standards set forth by the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria for Green Star Hotels.

This achievement reflects Cairo Marriott Hotel's dedication to implementing sustainable practices across various operational facets, including engineering, housekeeping, and kitchen management. The hotel has adopted a comprehensive sustainable management policy, which prioritizes economic, quality, health, and safety considerations, as well as the protection of local sites of  historical, archeological, cultural or spiritual importance, all in adherence to local and international legislation and regulations.

The hotel initiatives go hand in hand with Marriott International’s Serve360 initiatives and ‘Green Star Hotel’ Program standards, in which Cairo Marriott Hotel has introduced refillable bottles for shampoo, conditioner and bath gel to reduce plastic waste per guest. The company also enables guests to play their part in saving water through their Terry Reuse program, among others. Moreover the hotel focuses on working with entities to support sustainability when it comes to activities, in addition to partnering up with charity organizations and local sustainable production houses to create more environmentally-friendly gifts.

From reducing water waste, to separating and treating waste of all kinds, to enhancing overall environmental performance, the certification reflects the hotel’s commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint while upholding respect for human rights, local properties and sites, and indigenous communities.
