Egyptian Comedian Hashem El Garhy to Appear on New Comedy Central Middle East Production

The first Comedy Central MENA production will hit our screens on February 5th on Comedy Central HD. The series will feature Egyptian stand-up comedian, Hashem El Garhy, on the new local Comedy Central Presents show.

Owned by Viacom, Comedy Central is a notorious American entertainment channel that airs comedy programs in the form of TV series, stand-up comedy specials, and feature films. The half-hour stand-up comedy show, Comedy Central Presents, is now making its way to the Middle East with the aim of showcasing local talent, including Egypt’s El Garhy.

El Garhy has been rippling sounds, spitting impressions, and mimicking voices since 2007 in English and Arabic monologues, depending on the audience. He has performed around Europe and has created his own comedy platform called El Hezb El Comedy.

Also creating fresh performances on the show are other comedians from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Sudan, Jordan and the UAE. The comics will be featured in ten half-hour episodes, in an effort to introducing Arab comedy and content into the Comedy Central programming schedule to further develop the region’s stand-up scene.
