Actor Mohamed Emam is tapping into the legacy of his father, Adel Emam, by starring in a remake of the renowned war drama, ‘Shams el-Zanati’ (1991).
The original version of ‘Shams el-Zanati’ stars Adel Emam, Mahmoud Hemeida, Mostafa Metwali and Noha El Amrousy, and is set in a secluded oasis village in the Western Desert during World War II. Loosely based on the American film ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and the Japanese film ‘Seven Samurai’, the film follows a ragtag group led by Shams el-Zanati (Emam), who are hired to help the villagers defend themselves from bandits.
Directed by Ahmed Khaled Moussa, the remake will also star Yasmine Sabri and is rumoured to feature Adel Emam himself a narrator.
