Young writers in Egypt often struggle to find a fittting platform for their work however, a new group hopes to change all of this. The Forgotten Writers Foundation uses writing to discusses global, social and humane causes through art while also giving young writers a chance to release their creative potentional.

Established shortly after the 2011 revolution by young writer Mahmoud Mansi, the group, which currently boasts more than 1000 followers, has already released competitions for writers on topics that are rarely tackled before through literature, including female dominance and controversial political issues. The group aims to shed light on thorny issues and force both writers and readers to challenge their understanding of life and the world around them. "I wanted to revive the Egyptian literature and the hidden literature worldwide. I wanted to produce new books, on a wide international scale," says Mansi of the non-profit initiative. Their latest literary competition is based around the theme of motherhood, launched in December 2013 and running for nine months (obviously). "My personal goal for this competition is to have participants from every single country,” Mansi adds.
