Egyptian Ministry of Trade Confirms Heinz Egypt's Adherence to Health Standards

Egypt's Minister for Trade & Industry received a detailed report today on the findings of the Trade Inspection Authority's visit to the Heinz Egypt headquarters, according to Youm 7. The visit was in order to assure the company's products' conformity to quality standards.

The report pointed out that, after testing samples from Heinz's production lines, they were found to match the required standards. The products weren't found by any means in violation of the required production procedures, especially in what concerns the adherence to health standards and requirements, according to the report.

The report also mentioned that, in an earlier visit by the Trade Inspection Authority, certain "administration-related" remarks were made, and that immediate measures were taken to address these remarks. It went on that, on the Authority's last visit to the company, the production plant's management was showing commitment to the avoidance of the aforementioned remarks.

This comes as an acquittal for Heinz Egypt almost two weeks after the arrest of the company's director over the possession of 62 tonnes of expired products. The infected tomatoes were allegedly found in the company's headquarters in October, Youm 7 reported on the 5th of December.
