179 Palestinians Buried Inside Al Shifa Hospital Mass Grave in Gaza
The burials were necessitated by the complete breakdown of hospital services.
179 Palestinians were buried in a mass grave inside Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital, as confirmed by the hospital's director, Mohammed Abu Salamia. The burials were necessitated by the complete breakdown of hospital services.
According to Salamia, the mass grave was deemed necessary to address the health hazard posed by scattered bodies in hospital corridors. He explained the impossibility of transporting martyrs' bodies outside the hospital premises due to constant bombardment. Attempts to escape the hospital resulted in ten injuries yesterday, November 10th.
Palestinians trapped within the hospital’s premises began digging a mass grave due to Israeli encirclement. The hospital's refrigerators were disconnected due to the lack of fuel entering Gaza since the escalated genocide onset on October 7th.
Approximately 650 patients and 5,000 to 7,000 displaced civilians are trapped inside the hospital, facing continuous sniper fire and drone attacks, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Al Shifa Hospital, the largest medical complex in Gaza, has become a target in a series of airstrikes on medical facilities, pushing the health system to a "point of no return," as noted by the Red Cross.
