Ain Shams University Hospital to Perform Egypt's First Robot Surgery

Ain Shams Specialized Hospital is set to operate Egypt’s first robotic surgery, using cutting-edge technology to conduct a gallbladder removal operation which Ain Shams hopes to integrate into the Egyptian healthcare system.

Compared to traditional techniques, this new robotic mechanism enhances the accuracy and efficiency of surgical procedures, giving surgeons more flexibility and clarity, allowing them to perform less invasive surgeries, and reducing the risk of complications and infections with a faster recovery rate.

Initially announced in June 2021, Ain Shams University hopes to pioneer the use of robotic surgery systems in Egyptian medicine. This global surgical system was imported from the UK, with Ain Shams University ensuring that their surgeons have been trained for its use in the UK before it is fully implemented in Ain Shams University hospitals.
