AlUla Joins 2025 IMD Smart City Index With Five Other Saudi Cities
The IMD index was developed to evaluate cities based on technological integration, digital infrastructure, sustainability, and alignment with citizen needs.

AlUla has officially joined the IMD World Smart City Index 2025, placing it alongside five other Saudi cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, and Al-Khobar—as leading contenders in the global race toward digital urban transformation.
Spearheaded by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in coordination with multiple governmental bodies, this strategic effort aims to raise quality of life across the Kingdom by harnessing cutting-edge smart city innovations.
The International Institute for Management Development (IMD), globally renowned for its World Competitiveness Yearbook, developed the index to evaluate cities based on technological integration, digital infrastructure, sustainability, and alignment with citizen needs.
AlUla’s inclusion highlights its unique approach to modernization—preserving its rich archaeological legacy while enhancing visitor experiences through smart transport systems, real-time crowd management, and interactive digital platforms.
